Obama, McCain pledge to ‘work together’

CHICAGO — Presidentelect Barack Obama and former Republican rival John McCain pledged Monday to work together on ways to change Washington’s “bad habits,” though aides to both men said it was unlikely McCain would serve in Obama’s Cabinet.


Citigroup set to shed 53,000 jobs amid losses

NEW YORK — Citigroup Inc. announced Monday that it plans to cut about 53,000 more jobs as part of an effort to help stem huge losses sparked by bad investments and lending decisions.
